at the DfE placing Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Engineering College in the top 100 schools for sustained improvement.
Welcome to our school website! Our Lady Queen of Peace is an innovative, vibrant and exciting learning community where children achieve exceptionally well academically and develop as well-rounded young people who live by the Gospel values. Our Mission Statement ‘In Christ We Grow’ recognises that Christian principles are at the centre of every aspect of school life and we expect everyone in our community to: care, share and achieve.
Our expectations are high and our talented staff works hard to forge outstanding relationships with both learners and their families. No stone is left unturned in our pursuit for the very best for our children. This year we celebrated our best ever results: 62% 5 A*-C including English and Maths, 88% 5 or more higher grade passes and one quarter achieved 3 or more A*/A grades. Our committed staff works hard to provide a huge amount of extra-curricular activities and holiday study sessions. In 2011, we hosted our International Summer School with children from Mauritius, Spain and the UK coming together to work on the science of flight.
The school depends on excellent partnerships with parents. We believe that it is essential to work together to ensure the very best opportunities for our children. Recently, we were reaccredited with the Leading Parent Partnership Award and we have achieved the prestigious Investor in People Gold Award!
Our curriculum is expertly tailored to meet individual needs and children begin to build their portfolio of GCSE qualifications in Year 9, where they study their first option subject. Our lessons are 100 minutes in length, allowing staff to be creative in the activities that they provide, developing deep and experiential learning in every classroom. As an Engineering College, we incorporate problem-solving, teamwork, leadership and creative thinking in all lessons and Engineering the Future is our theme for our college status.
I hope that you find our website informative. Your comments and feedback are always welcome and should you wish to visit our school, you would be most welcome!
